  This photograph is actually quite rich historically. While it is impossible to date precisely from the image alone, there are numerous clues. Estimated Date My best estimate is late 1930s to early 1950s , with the strongest probability around 1940–1948 . The evidence: Men's Clothing The gentleman is wearing: A single-breasted suit Broad lapels A patterned necktie High-waisted trousers Those features are characteristic of the late Depression era and World War II/postwar years. Women's Clothing The woman appears to be wearing: A practical day dress or blouse-and-skirt combination A light jacket A wide-brimmed hat This style was extremely common during the late 1930s and 1940s. The hats are particularly important. By the late 1950s everyday hat use had begun declining rapidly. Architecture The house is perhaps the most interesting element.
